About Us
Golguppa is a women-led small business, started by long-time friends Akshata Malhotra and Samira Jain. They are both graduates of NID (Ahmedabad) and the School of Visual Arts (New York). They live in the USA and are pursuing careers in design and research. Their mission with Golguppa is to use storytelling and illustrations to make learning Indian languages fun for kids.

Samira is a design researcher at Microsoft and lives in Seattle. The pandemic gave Samira the opportunity to spend time with her nephew and niece who are both growing up in multi-lingual families. This inspired her to start Golguppa and make Indian languages accessible and fun for kids and parents.
Akshata is a human-centered designer working in a non-profit in New York City. Akshata grew up in a big, close-knit family in Delhi. As a mom of two little girls, Akshata’s purpose in starting Golguppa was to familiarize her daughters with their mother tongue and culture.
